How lazy am I?
Nothing for months, but sometimes life gets in the way. Anyway, I've made yet another bodice...hopefully it will contain Sherry's ample bosom. Real construction should start very soon. That is if the construction in my dining room doesn't get in the way.

Slow Going
Well, I finally acquired a bra from my model for Coliape! Now I can start trying to cover those D-cup ta-tas.
Why did I select a strapless dress for this girl? Well, it's a challenge and if I ever get it finished it should be great. Actually, it may not be strapless. I will add an optional halter strap if there is enough fabric left over. And yes, the fabric is selected!!! It's Italian (of course) floral print silk twill. I didn't even know silk came in twill weave. Check it out:
The colors look a bit dull in this picture, and you can't see the stems...and I'm too lazy to mess with the picture.
Ciao!

Welcome home, Caliope!
She's here...meet Caliope. Caliope arrived today, and is modeling a muslin for the bombshell dress. For the actual owner of the dress, I'll have to increase the bust and reduce the waist. This shouldn't be too difficult. First order of business is to pad Caliope to meet the actual measurements required. I was tempted to get one of those expandable things, but that idea was scrapped. They always look like they will topple over on those skinny legs. And what about the gaps all over the place? I'd rather take the time to pad out Caliope and have a fitting assistant without canyons all over the place!

Bomb(shell)s away!
Well, it started. With buttons still waiting to be put on my halloween costume, I just couldn't resist starting the Bombshell dress for my friend. There will probably be muslins and fittings galore with this one, but why not?
I've purchased the "Sew Retro" class with a Burda Pattern, taught by Gretchen Hirsch.

After watching the entire course (it's not short), I really felt that this dress, although very tediously constructed, is within my abilities. You should know, my dear readers, that my abilities are limited. However, Gretchen goes through every step clearly for those of us who really don't know proper dressmaking techniques.
It's late, and my model is probably asleep. Hopefully she can spare a moment tomorrow for fitting.

Halloween
Well, it's been almost a year and this is my second posting. Maybe I should change the title to Procrastinators Annonymous.
My Jester costume is almose done, just needing some buttons and bells. I seem to have an affinity for slippery and downright nasty fabrics, especially when working on costumes. But for halloween, why not?
This vintage pattern, a gift from a great friend, is about 4 sizes too big. No problem, jesters aren't known for couture fitting. The worst part was the contrast fabric.
Sorry, I cannot get it to scan well. The black dots are actually fake gold sequins. The rest of the stuff is mostly metallic stuff that frays and slides all over the place.
So I've decided to actually start sewing everyday, and with purpose. No more half-baked projects. Yes, I'm still finishing the costume, and two other projects...but look out world! Next up is a bombshell dress (for the friend who gave me this pattern) and I'm ready to go.

Merry Christmas
Well, it's Christmas morning and instead of sewing I'm putting off finishing my Queen of Sheeba cake. This blog may not last long...I have an affinity for letting such things drift off into nothingness. Sewing (when I have time) has turned into a fascinating and challenging experience for me and somehow writing about it seems like the next logical step in the creative process. I promise to get a few photos up eventually... who knows where this will lead?
